Anglo Saxon Lyre: Making and fitting the tailpiece

This is the first of a couple of "lyre Shop" videos showing how to fit accessories that I sell at my online shop,       This is a new tailpiece that is much easier to fit than the wire bound ones I used to supply for Nylon and Synthetic Strung lyres.  This tailpiece means you can easily replace a tailpiece even if it's threaded through like the Kravik Lyre ones.

11 String Kantele: Tuning newly fitted set of strings

Just a quick video after fitting strings and re-tuning the instrument before delivery.   This was a standard Cherry and Cedar instrument but this customer ordered a  Custom model older style of case, solid wood, dovetailed with old fashioned hook and latch hardware, leather handle,  all recycled pine material.

Lyre Making 2016 video guides

A few weeks ago I launched the 2016 Lyre DVD-ROM Disc and now the Download version too,
Plans include: Sutton Hoo, Snape, Morning Thorpe, Prittlewell, Bergh Apton, Cologne, Trossingen, Oberflacht(2 Models), Kravik lyre and the Irish Wire strung Lyre (G and D) along with the Bowed lyre plans including 2 string Jouhikkos, two Welsh Crwth plans and the Shetland Gue.

11 String Electric Kantele

These 11 String Electric Kanteles straddle a few genres of music, probably the most unusual of the instruments I make, they have been used in everything from  New age to Heavy Metal as well as traditional folk music. The current models I have made represent an unusual mix of old and modern with the relic antique finish I use on my Lyres and traditional acoustic Kanteles with new looking guitar hardware

The only artist I know  who has recorded with one of these is Chris Conway,
